How to cancel Apple Music
Last reviewed About 2–5 minutes
Apple Music subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID. When you cancel, your access to Apple Music's catalog ends at the end of the current billing period. Music you have downloaded for offline listening becomes unavailable, but any music you purchased outright from iTunes or the Apple Store remains accessible.
If you subscribe to Apple One, Apple Music is part of that bundle — canceling the bundle affects all included services.
Steps
Open your Apple ID subscriptions
On iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions. On Mac, open the App Store, click your name, then click 'Manage Subscriptions'. Alternatively, visit appleid.apple.com.
Find Apple Music in your subscriptions
Locate Apple Music (or Apple One if bundled) in the list of active subscriptions.
Tap or click Cancel Subscription
Select the Apple Music entry and look for a 'Cancel Subscription' option.
Confirm cancellation
Confirm when prompted. Access to the Apple Music catalog continues through the end of your current billing period.
Things to know
- Downloaded tracks streamed from Apple Music become unplayable after your subscription ends; music you purchased outright remains available.
- If you are on a Family Sharing plan, the family organizer manages the subscription for all members.
- Apple One bundle subscribers should check how their bundle is affected before canceling Apple Music specifically.
Frequently asked questions
- Do I lose my Apple Music library when I cancel?
- Your Apple Music listening history and library metadata are retained in iCloud. However, streaming access and offline downloads end when the subscription period expires. Music purchased outright is unaffected.
- Can I cancel Apple Music from the Music app?
- Subscription management is done through Apple ID settings, not the Music app itself. Use Settings on iOS/iPadOS, the App Store on Mac, or appleid.apple.com.
- Does canceling Apple Music affect my Apple ID or other Apple services?
- No. Canceling Apple Music only ends the music subscription. Other Apple services tied to your Apple ID are not affected.
