How to cancel Amazon Prime

Canceling Amazon Prime takes only a few minutes through your Amazon account. Amazon distinguishes between accounts that have used Prime benefits since the last charge and those that have not — if you have not used any benefits, you are eligible for a full refund of the most recent charge.

Note that Prime Video, Prime Reading, and other standalone Amazon subscriptions are separate from Amazon Prime membership and must be canceled individually.

Steps

Sign in to Amazon
Go to amazon.com and sign in to the account that holds the Prime membership.
Go to Manage Your Prime Membership
Hover over 'Account & Lists' in the top navigation, then click 'Prime Membership'. Alternatively, go directly to amazon.com/prime.
Click Manage Membership
On the Prime page, click 'Manage Membership' to open your membership settings.
Select End Membership
Click 'End Membership'. Amazon will show you whether you qualify for a refund based on your recent usage.
Choose End Now or Remind Me Later
'End Now' cancels immediately (with a possible refund). 'Remind Me Later' is a scheduled cancellation — your membership stays active until the next renewal date and is not charged again.
Confirm cancellation
Click through the final confirmation. Amazon will send a confirmation email. Keep it for your records.

Things to know

If you have used any Prime benefit (free shipping, Prime Video, etc.) since your last renewal, Amazon considers the membership 'used' and may not issue a refund.
Accounts with a pending delivery of a Prime-eligible order may need to wait until the order ships before canceling to keep the benefit.
Amazon Prime for students (Prime Student) follows the same cancellation steps at amazon.com/prime.
